Friends organise guided tours of the park
Chris Mountford, former head of leisure services for Merton Council, will be leading the hour-long walk around Cannizaro's 34 acres of gardens and woodland scenery, accompanied by Friends Chairman, Juliet Willis. A series of guided tours took place during this year's Wimbledon Cannizaro Festival in July when volunteers from the Friends showed visitors some of the latest improvements to the park. Executive Committee member Wendy Price is pictured left, explaining the contents and maintenance of the new herb garden. This was planted earlier in the year in the formal Dutch Garden as a permanent replacement for the previous floral displays. For the latest news about the park go to Summer News below. To learn more about Cannizaro and the Friends try the other connections. See the new Letters page and send us your own views on the park. The Friends of Cannizaro Park Mission is:1. To ensure continuation of Cannizaro Park in its present status as a Grade II* listed garden. 2. To support the London Borough of Merton in maintaining the park in the best possible condition and providing the best possible security - both day and night. 3. To encourage a balance between the needs and wishes of those who enjoy the park in a variety of ways consistent with its protected status. 4. To protect the park's flora and fauna and encourage responsibility in their appreciation and enjoyment. |
