Over 25
works were shown at PARK 08, this year’s Wimbledon College of Art exhibition at Cannizaro Park in May. The
exhibition of objects, performance events and interventions made especially for Cannizaro included new fine artworks, both by local students and those from
the Kunsthochschule in Kassel, Germany.
Seen top from the left:
Title: Forever Glam. Artist: Elizabeth
Dennis
A free-standing make-up screen, mirrors smeared with makeup, reflects the
natural beauty that surrounds it.
Title: Meat Feast. Artist: Jessica Taylor
A brightly coloured picnic, enticingly set out on the grass, turns out on closer
inspection to be painted meat, naturally in the process of decay.
Title:
Sinking Hut. Artist: Dexter Dymoke
A beautifully constructed wooden hut is apparently sinking – or rising from –
the ground.
Title: Sticky Rainbow. Artist: Jessica
Taylor
Strands of wool strung between an avenue of trees give the distant impression
of a coloured mist.
Seen above from the left:
Title: What goes around comes around.
Artist: Marie Stevens
The artist has cast her own body in bird seed which, like Meat Feast, gradually
disintegrates through natural causes. In this case, we assume it has been eaten
by birds!
Title: Untitled (Doors). Artist: Ana
Esteve
Real doors have appeared in the woods. The artist is one of the guest exhibitors
from the Kunsthochschule in Kassel, Germany.
Title: Whispering
Grass. Artist: Alice Wong
Visitors are invited to entrust their whispered secrets with the tree,
from whose crevices grow clumps of grass.
