MERTON has agreed to spend  £20,000 on securing Cannizaro’s boundaries against intruders and vandals. After discussion with immediate residents, a wall is proposed to replace the often vandalised wooden fencing at the gardener’s entrance in Chester Road shown far left in 2008 and left before the last repair.

Prickly planting behind the wall and additional security will make it far less tempting for intruders to break into the gardens after hours in future.

The work will be part of a bigger site improvement programme including replacement of the existing gardeners' hut near the entrance.
