King’s boys to help restoration of Cannizaro's greatest attractions

from King’s College School may be working every week in Cannizaro Park from the
autumn.
In a scheme to benefit replanting while educating the students, some 24 volunteers will help Merton’s gardeners dig and plant every Friday during term times from September 19. They will work in two 12-man shifts from 10.30am to 12.30 and 2pm to 3.30. Work will initially involve planting of new rhododendrons and azaleas in Lady Jane's Wood to help maintain Cannizaro’s listed status.
Harry Chapman, Coordinator Community Service at Kings College, said: “In return for their hard work the boys will be trained by the gardeners in how to plant and the appropriate tools to use. Similar projects elsewhere proved really popular with the boys ”
