Engraved benches added to Herb Garden
Merton's Environment workers Mick Aldridge and his nephew Daniel (left) installed two brand new engraved benches in the new Herb Garden on 16 February.
The benches, financed by the Friends, marked another step forward in the transformation of the Dutch Garden from a centre for bedding plants into a Herb Garden where scents and tastes become just as important as sight.
The new benches, carved with the words "Always together..." and "...never far apart", also symbolise the friendly welcome implicit in the creation of such a garden.
