ACAVA artists take a fresh look at park

Autumn 2005

ARTISTS at the Cannizaro Park Studios run by ACAVA have begun showing new images of the gardens. Painter Sally Booth has been including watercolours of the azalea dell and rhododendrons in her tour of Japan, while newcomer Paula Gray contrasts the wild and watery aspects of the park (right and left above).

Kath Montagu takes inspiration from the pines in the Mediterranean garden (centre above). All were showing their work during the studios’ open days in August and October. These were held for the second year running following the ACAVA artists' takeover of the studios beside the Italian Garden last year. South-west Londoners all, the artists showed and sold their work in the studios formerly used by Wimbledon School of Art.

ACAVA’s educational department says the organisation aims to promote the visual skills in schools and universities but also to assist career development among talented professional artists. As well as providing studios across London, it mounts exhibitions and gives digital training.
